An electrician is anyone who deals with the wiring of equipment’s, machinery and buildings. The electrical wiring of buildings, machines and stationary require skills and knowledge by the electricians. In order to solve electrical related issues then electricians do electrical engineering as a course. Having a high school diploma or an equivalent degree is what makes up an electrician.
A high school diploma includes the following programs in order to be an electrician and they are fundamental, practical courses and physical science. Fundamental requires one to be good in algebra while physical science requires one to have an understanding particularly in physics of electrical current and finally practical courses offer courses such as automotive mechanics, electronics wood shop so as to become an electrician. Upon receiving a high school diploma then vocational programs and apprenticeship are followed through. After undergoing an apprenticeship or vocational program then an electrician applies for a license.
During application of a license the following is required; test scores that demonstrate knowledge of NEC and state building codes, relevant fees, proof of having the required amount of experience in electrical trade and proof of apprenticeship completion. The roles and responsibilities of an electrician is dependent on the area of specialization. One of the responsibilities of an electrician is forming electrical circuits by connecting electrical wires to components and fixtures and testing completed circuit.
The best position for heating outlets, electrical outlets, light fixtures and ventilation systems is done for new buildings which require planning of the electrical system as another role of an electrician. Based on municipal codes then installation of wiring, lighting and control systems need to be in order for new and existing buildings as the other role of electricians. Circuit diagrams, architect’s blueprints and other technical documents, are read and interpreted by the electrician as their role and responsibility.
Electricians specialize in certain areas such as wiring of ships, mobile platforms, data, cable and airplanes. Courses like electrical engineering can be specialized as it’s a broad course. Due to the work load of electricians their physical presence is ultimately required. By being present electricians are involved in climbing of ladders, lifting tools and supplies. In their work electricians bend, squat and kneel.
Intellectual ability, interpersonal skills, knowledge of safety codes, character traits and ethics and finally business ethics these are some of the factors that are considered when choosing an electrician.
